New! With the demand for WiFi by so many RVers, we increased the speed and bandwidth fall of 2007 with a "T1" underground connection. AT & T monitors the signal quality via a phone line 24/7. So far (Mar. 2008), the only two outages were fixed before we or any of our WiFi using customers noticed.

Good solid connections are available at Rio while other rv parks switched to free as their connections are inconsistent and drop offs are numerous.

The test HP laptop is a small year old machine. Signal strenght via Windows XP is rated 1 - 5 bars with 5 the best. Speed test with two bars resulted in 1,005KBS download and 1,132KBS upload speeds December 26, 2007. Connection to aol was fast at all the points tested with the number on the map below being the Windows SP measurement.

Map of Wi Fi singal strength
#s are Signal Strengths

> 40dB SNR = Excellent signal (5 bars), always associated, lightening fast.

25dB to 40dB SNR = Very good signal (3 - 4 bars), always associated, very fast.

15dB to 25dB SNR = Low signal (2 bars), always associated, usually fast.

10dB - 15dB SNR = very low signal (1 bar), mostly associated, mostly slow.

5dB to 10dB SNR = no signal, not associated, no go.

For Example: Lot 50 has two bars by Windows XP and a Signal to Noise Ratio of 31.
Two bars on the chart above equals "always associated, usually fast".
SNR of 31 on the chart above equals "always associated, very fast".

This study has the SNR (less noise in the signal) of 31 is much better than the two bars Windows XP gave this location.

Park Test Results

Also, the in park signal is on 100% except when rebooting for new customers. Daily and Weekly users are logged in between 5 & 6 PM daily while Monthly and Seasonal are done at 3AM the next morning to avoid signal interruption as much as possible.

The system is protected with battery back up to help insure constant operation.

An information sheet is available at the park office with all the requirements. Most problems are in setting up your computer and vary with operating system and equipment. Most residents get on quick and enjoy continuous Wi Fi wireless high speed service.
